Precision Epoxy Jointing for a Backlit Stone Flower

This large backlit flower was waterjet-cut from white onyx, with selected sections coloured blue from the back. The project required exceptionally precise transparent epoxy jointing so the individual pieces would blend naturally under both normal and illuminated conditions.

Our most technical project to date. A new Escarpment limestone floor had to be ground completely flat. Because this limestone requires different treatments from marble and other types of stone, we used specific densifiers, different joint filling materials and carefully separated sealing treaments.
